Born here?

I entered the lift with Bond. 2 other aunties came in together.

Conversation in Mandarin.

Me: Which level?

The 2 aunties were busy chattering away.

Auntie #1: 27

I hit the button 27.

Auntie #2 corrected Auntie #1 informing which level she lives.

So Auntie #1 helped to press the correct level and also presses her own level. She has forgotten to press her level.

Auntie #1 looked at Bond and asked: Born him here?

I was puzzled.

Me: Huh? Oh! Ya born here. We are local.

Auntie #2: Is it? How come your accent don’t sound local?

I couldn’t be bothered with her, and just ignored her. Her level has arrived and I gave her a forced grin while she exited with her grandson.

Bond and I did not even speak to each other the whole time in the lift, where did she hear my accent? Just by me asking “which level?”

WTF.

ps: I have been asked if I am local and I do not mind that. But when I give you an answer, and you refuse to believe me and even gets suspicious of me, I will turn nasty.
